can I keep clams?

JMO here...but I have seen clams under MH and I have seen clams under PC...I dont think they thrive nearly as much under PCs as they do with MHs. Remember clams require light to thrive...but people have and will continue to put them under pcs...right under the light by a few inches. If you compare the two side by side you will see a VAST difference betwen the two lights and how they affect the clams. Just my 2 cents.

You would be limited to Squamosa or Derasa clams (sorry, but maximas and croceas would be a HUGE gamble). Even then, those two will survive, but likely not thrive....they STRONGLY prefer metal halide. They will also outgrow your tank.,

If you're serious about a clam, I strongly suggest you read "Giant Clams" by Daniel Knop and learn about their specific care requirements and upgrade your lighting. Best of luck!

Hi, i have a 75 gallon reef i bought a Squamosa that was one inch i took it out of the tank every other day a gave it a feeding of DT's, it was in the sand bed it grew to three to four inches and i slowly raised it up in the tank, now its going on seven inches under power compacts 360 watts a little more then you have so i would think you would need a little more lighting, you can see a picture in my gallery its on the right side of the tank and you can see how high up i have it good luck.----------My Lagoon
