my tank is 700 gallons. i have a pair of mature Maroon clown fish in the tank. they now host in a large bubble coral.

i want to add several RBTA's and four black and white Ocellaris clown fish.

they are now in another tank in the same system.

would they get along in the same tank. once i add them i will not be able to catch them if it doesn't work out. at least i dont think so. i have tried to catch the Maroon clowns and easily caught the male as he would not leave the bubble. i just put the net under the coral and got him. i have not been able to catch the female. day or night, bright lights in the night. no good.

i have had the male in a 5 gallon bucket in the sump for ten days. doing 100% water changes twice a day for him. i don't want to leave him there much longer and will return him to the display tank probably today.

Sounds like a huge tank! It may be big enough to work if you put an anemone on the opposite end.

The female maroon is very territorial but if the others are far enough away, you might get away with it. When I was starting the hobby, I found out the hard way that aggressive clowns will kill perculas.

If the maroons are already to one side of the tank it may work. Add the anemone at the furthest point you can from the maroons and then add the clowns to the same spot when their anemone is fully open and happy. Would be best to do this at night also. I think that's the best you can hope for. I think it should work though...

I have them together for over 4 years in a 170g tank...however the maroon female can be aggressive at times and likes to rearrange rocks and new corals. When I upgrade to my 450g DT, I will only keep the true percs and occ. clowns

that is encouraging. do you have any pictures? which ones were in the tank first? ages and size at introduction?

i have had the male in another part of the sytem now for almost two weeks. how soon will he become a she?
