i have a golden dwarf eel who is really acclimating well to my aquarium. i was just wondering, can i feed him too much to eat? he is eating so much and he has alredy eaten 2 small siversides and still seems hungry. oh yeah and the other day i accidently left out my bag of silversides and they defrosted. can i put them back in to freeze again or will they be bad to feed him?

thanks,
Andrew

I personally think you can definately over feed eels and any fish for that matter. They won't die from it right away, but over time you are shortening the life span of the eel. Most eels should be fed to cessation about 2-3 times a week. I lean more towards the 2 times. Or you can feed the eel small portions, 4-5 times a week, which I don't practice. Overfeeding an eel will just burn out their digestive organs and out unnecessary strain on your bio-load.

I would toss the silversideds if they were left out. Also I would toss the silversides either way and never buy them again. They are a poor food item for fish. They are fatty and don't have any great value as far as nutrition. Instead cut up some small strips of non-fatty, non-oily fish for you eels and fish. Also I would feed your eel some prawn with the shell on. Tim
