Can I take cuttings to reduce size?

I need to either take this coral out of my tank or cut it into 2 or 3 pieces. It's has a good 10" spread when fully open and is taking up too much room in my tank. Any advice?

You can just take some scissors to it and it'll be fine. Put the frags in a lower flow area with some rubble rock and they'll attach in a week or so if all goes well.

As organism post, Take some snippers to it, rubber band it to some rubble rock and you'll have some frags. Only other thing I could recommend is run some carbon if you dont after snipping her.

Nice coral! I love huge corals...

I´d never do this to that beauty but you can simply cut it from the base leting one inch or so and it will regrow.
Sell the rest and buy another coral for your collection :D.

Looks like a pretty wicked green tipped colt or finger leather to me...at 10" i can think of a couple places that would love pieces of that. Others recommend large frags, id say experiment with 3-5" (when extended) pieces and try one or two frags. Try banding or tying them to rubble as mentioned and see how it does, if you have success, share with your LFS. Many are eager to trade or sell your wares for store credit. As Norse said, its great to trade for diversity [ill add compatible] to the diversity statement. Ive done...OOPS...on that front.
