Yes. I've used the BRS ph probe. It's not nearly the same quality though. I only had to recalibrate my Profilux probe about every 3-4 months. I'm recalibrating my BRS probe every 2-3 weeks. It's gotten to the point that if I see my ph at 9.6 or 6.5, I don't even worry about it --- I just know it's time to calibrate again.
GHL pH probes tend to last over 2 years, work out how much you will pay in replacment generic probes in that time and see if the saving was really worth it? I think the answer is obvious
we supply the kits with the best quality generic probe we can which is supplied for free, this keeps the cost of the packs down, but we do advise after about 8 months or so to invest in a GHL pH probe
Other than pH no other third party probe will work with GHL for good reason - GHL is known for its reliability, why fit something untested and lower your systems reliability and quality.
