Im probably going to buy my friends 125 in the near future and i have a question. I currently run 2x250w halides with actinic supplements. Since there really isnt a big difference in gallons, i would want to use the same halide set up. so here is my ?....

Im sure the tank has the black plastic brace at the top and im wondering if that is removeable and can i replace it with some kind of clear top, i think they are called canadian top. Im sure im wrong though.

any insight would help.

It's called a Euro brace. It's a lot of work. If you are very skilled anything can be done. If you don't have exceptional skills leave the brace as is, or buy a euro braced tank.

thats the name... LOL Thanks.

What skills are needed??? Logically im thinking that it would have to be empty and the plastic one removed and the clear one glued somehow to the top of it...

the trim pieces are theoretically removable, but I'm not sure it is worth it. they are siliconed on and don't like to come off. Then there is the structural part of it...if you want a rimless, buy a rimless :)

no i dont want a rimless... I just want to be able to have 2 halide fixtures on the tank right where the black plastic braces go accross. I dont wanna have to add a third halide fixture.

There are builds where people have removed the bracing and placed euro-braces on their tanks. It looks like a lot of work and I am not sure that I would be able to sleep at night if I did one myself.

If you decide to do it, take a lot of pictures!
