Hard to explain due to the many life stages of ich. Technically no.when Properly applied Hypo salinity Treatment Generally Kills Most strains within a 30 day time period, However there are some strains of ich shown to be resistant to this method.

Also Theres freshwater ich but that's something else entirely.

Theres a few sticky's on here with all the info you need on ich and other marine fish parasites/Disease's. i Suggest giving them a read for more detailed information.

Fresh water dips do not kill marine ich because they cannot get to the ich since it is embedded.

The problem is that you would be unable to sanitize everything in your tank. Running fallow for 72 days works 100% of the time as long as nothing wet is added during that time.

After a cup of coffee, I realized my answer was incomplete. Since the theront stage of the cryptocaryon irritans life cycle is the only vulnerable stage to low salinity, rinsing or soaking live rock would not necessarily have any effect.

Yes, but that assumes "dry".
