Hello all,
I want to get some more swimming color in the reef.....150 gal

filled with tangs, wrasses, clowns. copperband.

If i put 5-6 Kupang damsels in would they upset the others?

Thank You,
Sean

By Kupang damsels, do you mean Chrysiptera hemicyanea?

I don't have experience with them, but do have a Yellowtail Damselfish (Chrysiptera parasema) in my aquarium. (Similar in color to Chrysiptera hemicyanea). Pretty much minds his own business. I would imagine a group would bother more with conspecifics than other inhabitants, but maybe some other folks who have actual experience with this species will chime in.

I have found this species (Chrysiptera hemicyanea) to be very similar to yellowtail damsels (Chrysiptera parasema) in that if crowded in smaller tanks they tend to aggressive with one another and possibly other non-damsel species. Not surprising really as they are territorial by nature.

In larger tanks they tend to be much less aggressive amongst themselves and with other species, and for a system your size (150g) you should be fine, although some of your current residents may take exception to their presence, so take care with your introduction.

Good luck, and they are one of my favorite damsels - up there with Allen's, Talbot's and Starki.

IME my kupangs were more aggressive amongst themselves compared to other fish, but they do become territorial over time
