Can my tank handle a brittle star fish?

My salt water tank is almost 8 to 9 months old.
the only thing I might have a concern with is I have 10 tiny hermit crabs.

Would the tiny tiny hermits try and eat the fast moving star fish?
I did not buy the star fish yet.

What do brittle star fish eat? just stuff at the bottom?

If it is a green brittle, odds are that it will eat your smaller fish.

The one I want at the store is 100% black.

i would not recommend having a brittle star, they grow fast and becomes aggressive if you don't feed it. it's also hard to take them out

What is fun and ok for a 55 is a fighting conch: they spend most time buried with just their eyestalks out. Occasionally come up to move about. Not safe with plate coral, otherwise ok. Just one per 55 gal.

I have a green Brittle that has grown quite a bit. The fish are use to it, so it doesn't have a chance, but I'd be very cautious about adding small juvies to the tank.

I feed mine 1-2/month and usually an freeze dried anchovy, silver side, or something meaty.

I once found it with all 5 legs cut off. I still don't know how that happened (perhaps a rock crushed it), but they all grew back. At this point, I can't tell that it was ever wounded.
