Can Nepthea Kill Torch Coral?

AcroporAddict

There is no substitute.
Guys,
I have a 100 gallon mixed reef tank (LPS/softies). I have a palau green nepthea that is located next to a yellow torch coral. Torch corals are known to be pretty dangerous to other Euphyllias like hammer or frogspawn, so I figured any interaction would end with the torch winning. There was an arm of the nepthea and a head of a yellow torch that were close and they brushed once in a while. Looked the other day and the torch head near the nepthea was dead as a doornail.

I am not a softy expert, so I was wondering if nepthea is perhaps more dangerous to LPS than I thought? I can trim the nepthea no issue. Thanks for your input.

I have nepthea side by side with a torch and i've only noticed the nepthea a little withdrawn where the 2 may touch. Torch seems to care less in my experience.

Could be just a coincidence that my torch head died. I repositioned the torch a bit further away.
