can sand trap fish in caves?

weird question.. but I recently added 15lbs of Caribbean aragonite in order to provide some depth for new jawfish. I dumped them all next to my flasher wrasse's cave. The McCosker flasher wrasse has always been a skittish fish, but it's been 4 days since I added the sand. I haven't seen the fish yet. I saw the fish the first night of adding sand. I took a flashlight and saw its face in its cave. Now I can't find him anymore. Usually he's the first one out for food. haven't seen him out eating either.

think the fish is just hiding from new tankmates? or did I trap him in his caves?

added a new yellow head jawfish and green chromis together recently too.

no detectable ammonia.. but I also have a HUGE CUC.. :hmm4:

Brother I just went through the same scare with my leopard wrasse. Wasn't seen all day so when lights went out I started digging in the sand for her and took a flash light underneath tank and seen her fins so I moved my fingers towards her and she popped out swimming. Thought she was dead, I didn't want to bother my corals photo period so decided check it at night.

Have always had sand though, just hadnt seen the fish in a day.

I suppose anything is possible. Fish are pretty resourceful and quick. your fish may have bolted out of there and you did not see him. I bet he turns up.

Thanks guys.. the search continues.

My tank is covered and overflow has 2 layer protection. And filter socks. Nothing yet
