i bought 2 dozen snzails from the LFS and on 1 of the shells i thought was an aptasia or a marjano jumped of the shell and started swimming kind of like an octopus the owner of the LFS had no idea what it was and hes been reef keeping for almost 19 years i apologize for the pic quality but with tentacles spread this "thing" is only 3/8 inches long pics r from backside through catch bucket

im not sure if i can post this thread here but i posted on newbies and other inverts with little to no success

jc,
Can I suggest that you post this in the "Other Invertebrates" forum?

It's a really interesting creature, and there are some real experts there who might be able to ID it.

Is it free swimming of attached now? It definitely looks like a type of hydromedusa based on your swimming description, and I am thinking something in the Staurocladia genera. Any more details?
