Hi Guys,

I have bought this fish today.. It seemed to me a neon goby while buying * .. but after bringing home I am pretty much sure it is not a neon goby. Now, I know 3 fishes that resemble this colour/body pattern. A)Cleaner wrasse, B)false cleaner or mimic blenny C)neon goby. But this one does not seem to be any of them.

Differences I have found in this one from other 3 are:
1. Does not have a rounded tail like cleaners or false cleaners. Tail if bifurcated and transparent.
2. Does not have elevated eyes like neon gobies
3. Very very agile snake-like motion and does not want to settle anywhere. It sometimes likes to get into rock crevices and just pop its head out for a lookout.
4. My Sailfin tang hates it, which is odd, because my sailfin tang is the nicest guy in the tank.
5. Has orange streak on the top spine.
6. Mouth is underhung.
7. Head is like snakeheads!

Can you guys help me identify what it is actually so that i may decide if its safe for mt reef or not!
Here are some pics and vids.. please forgive the quality.. Still dont have the right cam for aqua photogrphy *:(

Plagiotremus rhinorhynchos, it eats scales, mucus, and small pieces of flesh from fish, mimicking cleaner wrasses and anthias. Yours look to be transitioning. The juveniles and blue, black, and white, and as adults they are orange with two blue stripes running from head to tail.

oops.. so this means another adventure starts to catch him back from a 200gal tank filled with 120kg live rocks.. :( i am feeling like weeping.. thought its a cool rare species

"gotcha bugger!!!" :D

This dude messed up.. of all places he made his burrow in one of the crevices on a top rock.. Once he got inside his burrow i put one of my fingers at the entrance of the burrow to block the escape and pulled up the whole rock.. then a little burrow-flush in the sink and there he is!

If he had made his burrow in one of the base rocks i had gotta do a lot of sweat n burn before i could catch this runt in that 200 gallons of rubble..

He stays in my refugium untill i can figure out what to do with him
