The first pic is days after I got this. Definately a more purple, but pretty closed up when I got it. Second pic is now. Turning more brown, with green tips. I think it's a gonipora. Love to know for sure. Ideas? Of course, I'm not even sure it's a LPS, but . . :)

That's a Galaxea, be careful since it can sting corals up to a foot away.

Interesting. It looks nothing like the Galaxea I do have. Are there other types? Here's a closer pic of it, if it's of any help. To date it has no sweeper tentacles like my galaxea. Strange.

That's a pretty standard Galaxea, are you sure the one you think is a Galaxea really is one?

Here's the pic of my "other" Galaxea. I still don't believe the one in question is a Galaxea. If you look up pics of Gonipora, it looks too much like it.

They're both Galaxeas, like this pic here.

Gonioporas don't have skeletons on each stalk. The base has a skeleton, but the stalks are 100% fleshy like a hammer or frogspawn. Also, the tips of the polyps on the stalks of Goniopora don't elongate like those on a Galaxea. Poke your "non-Galaxea", if you feel a skeleton on each stalk, which you will, then it's a Galaxea.

Thank you, thank you - you've solved the mystery for me! Yep, that pic/link is definately it. It was purple when I got it, but all closed up. I'm bummed it's not purple, as I have enough green in my tank, but, oh well!
