Can they bury themselves

I purchased a beautiful tube anemone with black tentacles and a neon green centre. I got him set up in a cup full of sand to allow it to have sufficient sand depth without raising the rest of the tanks level. I don't want to damage it or its tube, so I gently buried it's end in the sand, can it bury the rest of itself without my help?

I have seen them when diving and have collected a few. They can bury themselves fast especially if something bothers them.
