I have a dersa clam for around 6-7 months no problems at all looks great health everyday until my alk dropped from 7.8 to 6.2 in about a weeks time the alk stayed low for around a week when I was away from home I brought it back up to 7.8 over a couple of days my whole tank looks fine mostly sps but the clam is gaping and has no mantle extension and very slow reaction to lite changes is there anything I can do to help this clam it does not look to well to m

Just keep your parameters stable. The most you can do. I have seen on RC comments about Ph that low. Are you sure? Get a second opinion on that test kit. If Ph was that low things would begin to dissolve.

It's hard to say. You'll just have to keep everything stable and hope for the best. I'd advise against any types of dips.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be many things one can do to save an ailing clam besides proper and stable Big3 elements, reasonable nutrient levels, sufficient lighting and a lack of parasites, predators and hostile nipping fish.

Best of luck - I hope things turn around. But if it dies be sure to get it out quickly.

The clam was no way gonna make it I took it out last niite the only thing it could have been was the all being low I guess u live and learn I just ordered a doser to start doing Randy's 2 part dosing to prevent these things in the future
Thanks for the help and responses
