My 9 yr old DIY sump took a dump. Leaking at the seams. I tried to do a repair but it's not working out to well. I want to setup a temporary sump using a 20L glass tank without drilling it. The problem is I have an external pump that I need to plump to it. Can I just plumb in a up and over the top U shaped pvc pipe into the glass sump? Will it break the prime if the pump shuts down and siphons back down?

Ive seen setups with an external pump being used without drilling. You will need the u shape plumbing but you will also need a peice of pipe to come off to prime the pump (one with a plug so its air tight). Not sure if it will loose its prime if power shuts off though, youll have to test that.

Hmmm any way I try to think of it, if your pump loses its prime, then it'll just burn up once the power kicks back on... However, if it is only temporary... I'd do it just to keep my tank alive...but get that new sump ASAP! I'd be monitoring that thing every hour on the hour lol.

On another hand, why not try to jurry rig the crap out of it, by means of epoxy, super glue...etc, while you source another sump?

Just my two cents...Hopefuly more helpful than some others constructive insight....;)

Or you can always... :lolspin:
