Can you have to much flow

Well I have a 125 gallon set up in the works my ultimate goal is to go full blown SPS but that is a long way down the line. I was looking at those new koralia magnum # 8. Any input?

Is there such a thing as too much flow
Yes

It will depend on a number of factors, the type of flow and where it's pointed have a lot to do with it. There isn't really a "gph" guideline to follow, well there is but I don't think it's very usefull. I suggest planning for more than you think you'll need, and allow for room to increase your flow if needed. If it turns out to be too much, either re-direct the pumps/nozzles, or turn them down with a contoller/valve.

sounds good anyone else

Full blown sps thrive on A LOT of flow. I have roughly 80X turnover/circulation. I noticed in the sps forum that most sps keepers have the same flow.

I have 2 hydor magnum 7's in my 90g.... It took 2 hours of rearranging/adjusting and finally only running one at a time using a wave maker to switch between them...

I would see no problem with a pair of 7's in a 125. If you have it blowing water down the entire 6ft you would be fine. 8's may be much but with proper planning it could work. I will be getting rid of my 7's and going with 6's in my tank tonnight. I ran the 7's for a day and sadly will have to down size to 6's..

The new magnums are awesome by the way!!! Starts up nicely every time!!! and all low wattage.. I waiting to see how some one comes up with a mod !...

I had 2 sureflow 1600s in my 75g which gave me about 42x turnover. A lot will say that's a good turnover rate, but I found it was too much. There was so much water movement that overtime some of my sps didnt want to open up. So right now i'm running just 1 sureflow with the 2100gph prop, until I get a wavemaker.

Same issue in my 90 with the 2 K7's the sps stopped opening up and were not happy.. i think the problem is they were getting the direct water flow, not the massive volume movement like in the ocean.
