Can You ID This Snail

Can anyone ID this snail? Is it a cerith? It was a hitchiker.

I'm thinking a Whelk. Maybe Pyramidellid; if so, it's a clam parasite and will die without a host.

It rarely leaves that red (plant or algae im not sure what that is). It has been in our tank for about 1 1/2 months. When we did a water change last week we moved it to the other side of the tank and by morning it was back in that red thing. This piece of LR did come out of a tank with clams in it though.

or could it be Botryocladia sp.? Take a look at it in this slide show:
