can you OVERFEED a BTA & what causes there tenticles to shrink?

Yes you can- although the negative effect is more likely from pollution in the tank caused by the food not digested- they will appear to swallow quite a bit, but only so much will be processed. Tentacles shrink as they eat, respirate, or endure stress of one kind or another- very normal, but if it does it more than a couple of times a day (and certainly if it doesn't open up within a few minutes) something is wrong....
