I wanna have sps and lps coral in my tank, and I need some more info about placing them in the tank.

I have mainly the branchy sps, various colors, can I place them side by side close to each other or even touching each other branches?

Unless you have duplicate corals they will kill each other when they touch, in some cases instantly, while other times one coral will very slowly take over the other.

they shouldn't touch each other. Even more it's better to have some space between they somehow feel it. I've seen few picture of SPS fusion.. but in all my cases one coral always suffer.

I have a thread showing many pictures of corals growing onto each other in my display. If you are sucessful in this hobby your corals will always grow into each other much quicker than you think. I often place rocks with coral on them onto and inside other corals so they can all grow together. Works good and looks very natural after they grow in. Its fairly easy to predict which coral will win and after a while you learn what they do. Some grow over, some use chemical warefare, and some just turn and avoid contact. I have never seen a healthy sps coral die due to insidental contact with another sps. I have had a few frags get totally grown over but i can always save a piece and plant it somewhere else. However, LPS will slaughter you sps if they are close enough for their sweepers to reach. They can however be kept in the same systems.

Link to said thread? Would be cool to see the pics.

It's hard to resist fragging up your new tank, but if you can space them out you'll be rewarded moreso in the coming years.

My luck is they touch and both die.

Keep space especially with milleporas I believe (so I've heard) they tend to be a bit nastier with their aggression.

How exactly do you guys keep space with your corals? I start with mine several inches apart and they grow all over each other? What is your secret?

Im weird, I enjoy corals growing around and onto each other .. and only frag when absolutely needed ... makes it look more natural ...

Almost inevitable that you'll have some fighting and casualties along the way. Some eefers with mature SPS tanks prune away to avoid too much chemical warfare and the like. I try to stop the slap fights, but many I allow to go.

The encrusting coral fights are the hard ones. People say to drop some rubble in-between the approaching encrusters, but I'm always too late and/or the rubble never stays in place.
