Is it possible to place these next to each other or will there be problems? I read somewhere that they are related. I would like to know if thats safe to do. Thanks
Can you place torches next to frogspawns or hammers or mix?

If you want to play the game safe, then be sure to place them apart, each given their space respectively.
If you want to try, go ahead and place them together. HOWEVER, be sure to keep a close eye on both.
FWIW Torches are known to be more aggressive then hammers and frogspawn, but again, this varies from case to case. Sometimes they play nice, other times they're horrible.

You can place Euphyllia's next to each other EXCEPT torches and elegance. I'm pretty sure most torches can touch torches, and most elegance can touch elegance, but just like mentioned above you generally will have issues trying to mix these two species with other species of euphyllia's. I have never had a problem with any amount of frogspawn touching hammers, visa versa, and so on.

I didn't know elegance coral(s) were in the genus Euphyllia ... which species of elegance in particular?
Or maybe I misunderstood what you said

Not in the genus Euphyllia, but elegance/Catalaphyllia is in the family Caryophyllidae which includes Euphyllia along with Bubbles/Plerogyra/Physogyra, Fox/Nemenzophyllia, Eusmilia,and others.
IME conspecifics can touch eachother without too many issues. Congeners.. well, as others have mentioned, it sometimes works, sometimes doesnt. Ive never had a problem mixing any kind of hammer and frogspawn together. I never throw a torch into the mix though. For that matter I always keep elegance out of anything elses reach too.

I have a frog and a torch next to each other and the torch is less than an 1 1/2 inches away from touching the frog. I am watching to see what happens because I am sure they will meet. So far they don't seem to be minding each other, but will keep you posted.

I don't trust torches. I had mine up on a rock, about 4 inches away from my bubble coral (which was in the sand). I had them for months then one day the bubble started to recede in one spot. I did all kinds of tests and water changes, but I couldn't figure out what was happening. I never though it was the torch, I didn't think it could actually reach that far.
I caught it one night, the torch had a sweeper buried in the bubble's skeleton, I couldn't believe how long it was! I separated them and the bubble's since come back, but I keep a very very close eye on my nasty torch. Figures it's growing the fastest in the tank

The sweeper was probably close to 3-4 inches! It was long! It's amazing what these things can do when they're ready to cause some trouble! Like I said, I never once suspected the torch because I honestly didn't think the sweepers could get THAT long, especially because it's in such a low-flow area.
My maze brain throws out a good 2" sweeper sometimes. Looks goofy coming from the brain, like a long white hair.

I tried the torch next to my frog and hammer and ended up having to place the torch on the other side of the tank. The torch is also the only coral in my tank that leaves nasty red welts on my arm if I accidentally touch it. I do want another torch though as long as I can place both torches together.
I would also like to get another frog and place my hammer in the middle of the 2 frogs only because I want to see them cross with my hammer. I think that would look pretty cool.
