We decided to use the Bio Spira instead of the Red Sea starter for our tank. The rock in the tank had already completed a small cycle, so we added our clown fish pair, the bio spira and some chaeto.
I have been watching the numbers daily since they went in, and had a small ammonia spike that quickly went back to zero. Nitrates and Nitrates have also been on the move.
Can I add the nitrifying bacteria (Nitro Bac) from the Red Sea kit, and maybe the Nitrate and Phosphate reducer in small doses? Seems like I could also maybe use the KH Coralline Grow in small doses to help with the PH swings i am getting (Hannah checker put KH at 8.12dkh yesterday, but the PH moves a good bit in 24 hours.)
I guess the only thing I wouldn't consider adding is the Bacto Start, that emulates fish waste.
The directions on the box say not to follow the system with fish in the tank... But is the whole package a waste?
