I want to frag my toadstool leather and put it somewhere else in the tank, but I'm afraid it might get stung by zoanthids if I place it near them. Will they sting my leather?
I doubt that they will bother your leather, but the leather may grow to shade nearby zoanthids and starve them of light. Zoanthids seem to be more of a problem for SPS and LPS colonies.
I have seen no evidence of zoanthids stinging any coral. I've seen threm growup and on leathers before. Left unchecked, I believe the zoanthids wouls eventually smother a leather.
agreed - i have a couple leathers that act adversly to touching zoas - its best that no coral touch another simply a matter of energy expenditure - would you rather your corals expend energy in growth or in territorial warfare???
