Canadian 280 Gallon Cube

Hi Everyone,

Well the bug has bit me and after much consideration I am starting the planning process on a new reef tank.

Just to warn everyone this build process is going to be very slow as it will revolve around a full basement remodel with the tank/bar being the main show piece of the basement.

The Why?
I have always loved very deep reef tanks the flexibility on rock work is endless, with that said I also wanted to limit myself on the gallon amount of the tank wanted to keep the display under 300 gallons so the shallow reef tank was born.

My idea is for a 60inx60inx18in 3 sided viewable starfire tank with a custom bar top that wraps around all 3 sides.

The tank will need to be built in place and lucky for me I have the ability to choose from a few different amazing tank builders in the Toronto area.

The Help Needed

I have only gotten as far as to design the tank figure out the spot since this tank will have an open air top (No Canopy) light fixture appearance is very important. I would like something modern and sleek but also looks like it fits the tank. Since the tank is 5ft x 5ft I assume I will need a few fixtures but I worry it will look too busy and cluttered.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

oh wow that a big cube!
imo why dont you go for 60x40x24? 18 might look too short for such a large tank...

I love the look of low lagoon style tanks, I am also planning having this at bar height 42in so when sitting 18" will be right in eye view. Since this is custom made I can increase the height to 20inch if it appears to shallow.
