Canary blenny

Got one today and wanted to know if I should look for anything or be careful of anything. I know they can jump and are venomous. But anything else?

Blennys are very easy and tend to eat straight after putting them into your DT. Mine has done this. Also, I have heard something about blennys not liking other fish of the same LR general size and shape. So be careful when adding certain gobies or other blennys. Good luck!

Thank you. I'm not going to be adding any other blenny's or a goby. I've got a yellowhead jawfish in their. Should I be worried since somewhat same size? Also, I got a yellowtail, but he hasn't been issue.

I bought a "bonded pair" of canary blennies off of DD. Other than the fact that they tried to kill each other, they never bothered any of my other fish and are actually really peaceful and will swim up to my hand any time its in the tank looking for food. Unfortunately one of mine jumped just a few days ago, so Im glad to see youre already aware that can be an issue!

Also, like I said, mine were from divers den so theoretically were acclimated to prepared foods before being shipped to me. One of mine began eating frozen mysis after 3 weeks and the other took probably 6-8 weeks before finally eating anything I offered. Once they started eating it was fine, but I was extremely concerned initially because they just hunted in the rocks and ignored everything I offered!

Good luck with yours! I actually really like mine, so hopefully youll enjoy yours too!

Well that's good to hear they didn't bother any other fish. I'm looking forward to watch him with the others.

Well depending on the order you add the fish the one that was in the tank before might become territorial for a day or two. At least that's what my blenny did to my watchman goby. Now my blenny hangs out in the same tunnel system my goby and pistol made. He won't stay there all day but he does go there to take a break. No aggression since the first day I put them in. The blenny was first in the tank and was established. He went and picked on the goby for a few hours. Not really fighting. Just flaring up in a display of dominance I believe.
