Candy Cane Coral

I love candy canes. I think the vibrant green just sticks out in any tank and is some realy eye candy. So what conditions do you guys think works out best for this coral. Placement of tank, water flow, lighting, do you supplement them, or any special care you guys think really works. I would love to know so my colony will continue to grow. Thanks everyone:)

Feed em late at night and they will blow up like a "remax" baloon. I keep mine where the current has a light up draft so they can get leftovers if any are available. Mine have quadrupled in heads in less than a year.

A lot of the time if I can catch them when the lights JUST go on in the morning their feeders are still out. I've just given mine whatever sort of frozen meaty marine food I've had on hand. Heard they like cyclops, I've given mine squid(came in a multi-pack and nothing else would even try it. . .) and they'd probably take mysis without a hassle.

every now and then maybe 2 times a week when im feeding my tank ill see my candies feeders out and ill break some silverside up and hand place it into there tenticles and they love it blow up and get huge.. ill let them eat for about 30 mins before putting the flow on and they are happy as can be. have 3 new heads in 2 months.

I target feed mine, & all of my corals with a 10 ml. syringe, with 1/4 rigid tubing attached to it by a small piece of 1/4 soft airline tubing.

Mysis, spurlena, blood worms, cyclopeeze, etc. mostly frozen food thawed in a small jar / cup, with SW mixed in. I try to get each head with some of the mix, they open right up & chow down !
once a week I use marine snow or Kent Chroma Max, with the pumps on & the skimmer off.
I'm going to need a larger display soon if I keep this up

Steve 926 - Thanks, Man...it's ingenious! What a perfect coral feeding mechanism. I just got a new Sun Coral and it's eating well from a turkey baster, but the polyps that face downward are impossible to reach. This should do the trick. Reefers are so inventive.

Your Welcome
Hope you enjoy it & share it with other's ;)

Any medical supply has them (10 ~ 20 ml) works fine
I have seen people use a small plastic container with holes in it, to cover their sun corals, & then feed them.
Some of the frozen food's, ( blood worms, krill, etc.) I cut up in the jar with a small scissors, & then add the SW. this make's it easier to draw into the syringe, & feed the corals also.
