candy cane heads popping off ????

We have one 55gal with 9 colonies of mint green candy canes. They range from 3 to nine heads per. Three of them have started to drop off the heads (2-3 heads each). The heads are alive and well laying on the bottom of the tank for just at two weeks now.
Any ideas why? Or what for?..............Thankx for the help.

I think that's a way they reproduce. Did it shrivel up first and look sickly before they dropped or did the head just pop off the stem?

Post a pic if you can, it might help to figure out what's going on.

What's up if they're shriveled and look sickly? Mine began looking that way tonight and consequently checker water params - which were all normal. So I was wondering what the possibles cause were.

Candy canes usually split to reproduce making one head slowly into two and so on. That sounds like polyp bail out...weird, I just read another thread here on the same thing with a brain coral...I said the same thing, check the search function and see if there are any old threads about it. Not a good sign when corals bail out like that. What are your params???
