Candy cane parasite?

Can anyone tell me what the white puffy things are that are attached to the stalk of my candy cane coral? They have just appeared in the last month. They are
Growing and multiplying. Not sure how to post pictures here.

Without a picture it's hard to say, but if I had to take a guess I'd say Scypha sponges. (aka pineapple sponges)
