Candy cane question

What would be causing my candy cane coral to grow multiple heads on the same branch. I've had a pink and a white colony for prob close to a year and they haven't grown any the branches, but they have grown multiple heads. They look very healthy, just don't seem to be growing new branches. Any thoughts?

One location may be more ideal than the other in terms of lighting, flow, blah blah blah.

Pictures? It may be that there isnt enough calcium in the water to build new branches so they are limited to growing on the same skeleton? Not sure if that is even a possibility but I know my candy canes will grow new heads in one spot then slowly grow upwards. Anyways I would love to see pics of the candy cane just because I havent seen that color before.

Splitting heads in normal growth. I looked at mine this morning and almost all of the heads in one of my colonies is splitting. Many have three mouths and one even has 4 mouths!

I have 2 colonies. One is pink and the other is white. I can take some pics if you like, but I don't think they are rare by any means. My guess is that it is the calcium that would be causing this. I try to dose every day, but I spend days away from the tank every now and then for work. Oh well I was just curious what the deal was. They still look healthy and thats whats important to me.

Like it was said earlier... it could just be normal growth. They always split once or twice before you can see any noticeable skeleton growth.
