Candy cane splitting? Or melting?

The branches use to have a noticeable gap between them they grew up and the candy cane heads started moving over it then touching each other. Now the one head looks smaller and not as good as it used too. Thoughts? Tank params are great.

It's a tapatalk issue. Posts made through tapatalk containing pictures often have issues with the picture not showing up. You can copy the url between the IMG tags and paste into another browser window to see pic.

As candy canes grow, sometimes branches which shared tissue grow apart, and the tissue eventually separates.

Another possibility would be when candy canes recede (no bueno), the sheath of tissue around the branch can shrink up towards the head.

To me they look to be receding. I suggest also looking at your magnesium level.

I'll have to get a magnesium test kit. Any other possibilities could they be receiving too much light? There in a 20gal tank near the top under a kessil 150w and a 24"ecozotic actinic pro strip.

It's just weird to me I figured if it were splitting I'd have new heads. The frag started as a 4 head frag with defined bases. But the base became wider. Then the heads formed/stretched into each other... No new heads.
