how hard and what type of light does it need mine does not seem happy with my t-5?

I have one doing well under a 250w 14K MH. It is 21" below the light fixture and has 15" of water over it, and it's just slightly off center from the light.

I have some under T5's that are doing just as good as the ones under halides.....they should be just fine under T5s.....maybe your bulbs are old?

I have had them under pc's close to the top and done great, also with VHO's without issue.
What are the water parameters?

Mine are about a foot deep, with 159W 14,000K MH about 8 inches above the surface....and they are quite happy!

Could it be the flow they are receiving?

Could be too much light too. Mine don't like it when they are too close.
