Are these fish reef safe?
Do they mess with clams , longspined urchins, or starfish?

Not 100% about this particular species, but I have a tow-spot hogfish in my reef tank and have had no problems. The hogfish is closly related to the wrasses, so many of the things you know about wrasses, you could apply to the hogfish.

Most of the research that I have done on hogfish seem to suggest that they need to be monitored in a reef tank as they may be aggressive to smaller shrimp. My coral-banded shrimp and it seem to get along fine.

At first, my hogfish was a bit aggressive to other tank mates, but now seems fine. One cool thing about hogfish is that they burry themselves in the sand bed to sleep and to hide during a fight so make sure that your sandbed is accessible. They build a mucus sack under the sand and sleep in that. My hogfish has actually found a hole in a piece of liverock and sleeps in there. You can shine a flashlight in the hole at night and see him sleeping in there.

If this particular species is reef safe I would get him for sure. They are very active swimmers, and like to swim in and out of your rockwork. Be sure to have some sort of cover on you tank as they are jumpers. Mine has tried to jump several times, smashing his face on the eggcrate i have over my tank. Better than landing on the ground i guess!

Hope this helps somewhat.
