Just got a Candycane coral from liveaquaria and it looks pretty sad
It looked like crapola in the bag and after acclimating and a few hours now in my tank it still looks like crapola
The skeleton is showing on every head
Here are pics, i ordered one but it broke in half in the bag so i got two now...but they look horrible dont they?
are they goners?

Just give them time. Caulestra are pretty hardy and will recover pretty well from lots of issues. you ay lose some, all, or none. time and water params will telll. there are a number of corals i will not order online anymore, euphyllia, caulestra, Plerogyra, and cynarina are some of those as the skeletons and tight shipping bags dont mix well with their flesh.

They look like they will probably recover to me.

Either way, Liveaquaria is pretty good about their level of customer service.

I would notify them that there is a problem, just so they know, and then wait and see if it improves in the next couple days. If they die on you, take pictures, call them back, and ask for a refund or replacement.

i see 2 i think wont make it, but its so hard to say anything for sure. just take it easy on em and keep em in a lower light lower flow area for a few days. low flow will help not irritate the flesh anymore than it is. and the low light will discourage any algal growth on the bare skeletons.
good luck

One is in ok light, but the larger piece may be under too direct light
Tank is 18" deep and i have him placed about half way
I dont think my lighting is too strong, it HO T5's
Do you think hes in an ok spot?

I agree in predicting survival. Please post your eventual results, good or bad. That's the brst way folks can learn. May the luck be with ya.

Its been a few days and it looks the same, no worse no better.
I relocated one since it fell from the rock, didnt seem to make a difference.
Centers are green and look healthy, mouths are closed, no feeding tentacles as of yet, the skeletons are still showing, they look so icky :(
Here are pics taken from today
what do you think? any improvement? are they goners?

They look about the same to me. I don't know anything about those big mushrooms or those palys, but if they can sting or are playing chemical warfare, I'd try moving the Candycane away from them. Just a guess but it couldn't hurt.
