Candycane question

I purchased a Candycane the other day and am acclimating it at the bottom of my tank. It has very long skeleton/stalks which make it difficult to mount. Can I cut the skeleton/stalks down without damaging the coral?

As long as you aren't cutting the flesh, there is basically 0 chance of harming the coral.

To be safe I would leave about a inch of skeleton past the flesh
