Canister filter issue

I have an issue with my fluval 406 canister filter. I noticed a few day also that my impeller was broken so I figured that was causing issue with filter. I replaced those parts and now filter will not fill with water and doesn't seem like It is filling with water or working at all. Any ideas as to what the problem is. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Canister filters are no good for saltwater tanks. I would look for a sump.
