canister or not?

Should I disconnect my canister filter or not? I have it on my 125gal mixed reef. I use it for carbon and clean it every 3 weeks. It just seems like it would be easier to drop a bag in the sump. I feel like I am answering my own question but please let me know what you think about canister filters for media? Thanks

Why not just get a Two Little Fishies phosban reactor and feed it with your return pump or an mj600? I use them for carbon and ROWA's and they work great!

For phos I use Kent phos sponge and place it in the sump and then I pack a fluval 404 with the carbon. It just seems like having another chamber is another piece of equipment to clean.
