Canon G6 tips?

I just upgraded from a sony point and shoot style digi to a canon G6 and was wondering if anyone has any tips for better pictures?

I bought a tripod yesterday, that seems to help out alot, but there are alot more settings on this camera than I am used to!

Best thing you can do is learn how the basics of photography- aperture, shutter speed, depth of field, etc. It's really not that complicated- far less complicated than pH and alkalinity

The G6 is a great camera- with a little knowledge you will be able to get magazine cover shots.
