I currently have this camera. Is it any good (not really a photograher at all yet)? I am planning on setting up a reef tank soon and I wanted to make sure I had a good camera to get some nice macros as well as FTS. Here is a a very bad pic I took with my current camera:

The A590 IS is a half-way decent reef tank camera IMO.
It cannot shoot RAW so if you are anal about color accuracy you will have to deal with blue pictures. You can adjust settings manually which is a very nice feature. The lens is so-so. If you zoom all the way out (wide) you can use a wide f/2.6 aperture. Zoomed all the way in you are limited to f/5.5 which is 2 full stops slower. If you research exposure (aperture, shutter speed, ISO) and buy a tripod, I think your A590 may preform better than you thought possible.

Cool! Will do. Also, I just discovered this camera in my basement, must be from some other family member. It is a Minolta brand, I think the camera is called the Maxxum 400si? Do you now anything about it? Any good? Also I'm not sure if the lens is stock or if it was bought separate but it is a Tiffen 49mm Haze-1 AF Zoom 35-70. Sorry about basic questions, just got into the amazing world of photography.

If you practice with your digital, you can probably find a decant macro for that SLR on the cheap and get some super amazing photographs!

Sweet! Thank-you very much! Will research and test out with the digi canaon, and take the real shots with SLR Minolta.
