Hmmm...I somehow missed this thread!
On the top of robustness, I love Canon. My 5dmarkii has survived everything. I used to put plastic bags on it, now I just put a hood on the lens and let it get soaked, never had a problem, but I also don't use zooms and all my primes are sealed. I leave that sucker sitting out in the rain for hours on a regular basis. I've shot in huge dust storms at burning man until my camera was totally brown and I had to clean it for a few hours when I got home to make it look black again. I've had it fall 4 feet directly onto concrete while it had the 85 1.2L on it (very heavy lens), and neither the lens or the body were damaged (albeit, I put a big scratch on the lens rim). I'm up to 600k actuation of the shutter, and it is still kickin'. It's a tank and am machine gun, and it never jams no matter how many shots are fired.
