Canopy or not Canopy?

Hi!

I am currently planning my 65g. It will be housed in a large closet, so I am a bit afraid of evaporation/humidity. It is possible to put a glass canopy, or would it compromise the air exchange and light diffusion (AquaIllumination LED) too much?

For a number of reasons (heat, air exchange, light), I would stay away from a canopy (if by canopy you mean cover). I would recomend a bathroom exhaust fan mounted in the ceiling and ducted to an outside vent if possible. You should be able to install it for well under $100 if you can do the work yourself.

Bathroom exhaust fans are very easy to install (if you can wire a outlet, and cut drywall you can install that fan), and will solve all your problems.

Depending on where you live, glass tops can be a blessing or the source of many problems. Hot climates, you probably cant do one unless you cool your house well. Cold climates can help to hold heat in which can save on electrical costs and cut down some on evaporation.

The other thing with glass tops is that you will need to clean them often to remove all the algae and salt creep that will grow on it.
