Is the only drawback for going rimless is more water evap?
Older pic but you can kind of see what I am talking about here.
-I'm actually finding that the visual water line of a rimless tank is a drawback..
(Got my first rimless tank over a year ago and I think I actually like a trimmed/canopied tank better now just because of that)
-Need to prevent fish jumping out pretty much forces some sort of screen/top anyways..
-Depending on how sealed the canopy is will effect how much evaporates given identical surface area/surface agitation,etc...
Many canopies are open enough (doesn't take much) that evaporation rates aren't that much different..
-Spilling of water over the edge during "wave surges" from fish or glass cleaning near the surface,etc... can be annoying..
The difference would be so small you wouldn't be able to tell. Even with a canopy you'll have evaporation.

I do not agree with this.
i use glass tops on my rimmed tanks and the evap is drastically less!
