...Can't catch a worm

Got some kind of worm killing my CUC. It is green, about 18 inches or longer. Very fast and has good vision. I have tried numerous times to bait and grab, no success. Did find the rock it lives in and removed to a separate tank.

Can I do a high salinity dip in a bucket? Will that work, or kill all the good things in live rock?

The only thing else I can do is break up the rock into smaller pieces. Don't want to do that.

Help? :fish1:

Tried that. It won't leave the rock its in. It can stretch out almost 2 feet and the tank is a small one. Also it will retreat when you make any movement!

Anyone know if mixing up a bucket with a high SG will flush it out?

Do you have any coral dip? I use it to dip my corals so Im assuming it wont hurt the life on the rock except the worm.

Yes it will. Submerse the rock into a bucket filled with a SG of 1.035 to 1.040 for one minute. Any invertebrates including mantis shrimp, bristle worms, and crabs will quickly evacuate from the rock and into the bucket of water. Sort through what you want to keep.

You may consider just doing a quick fresh water dip. it is more likely to kill the inverts on the rock, but I don't think there's a big risk of adding that rock back to your tank afterwards (say a 5-10 minute dip).

i would try the high sality salt bath i did that before i put my LR in my tank and you wouldnt believe what came out of the rock in about a min or two.
