i just purchased a radiant wrasse for my 75. i have two clowns, a blenny and a blue accessor. i saw him the first night and now i have not seen him at all. i have heard they like to burry themselves in the sand but im worried that he is going to starve. i stirred up the sandbed and i found nothing. not in the sump either, i have a strainer on my overflow. any ideas or other people experiance the same thing i would love some info. thanks. jake :(

It certainly won't starve in a few days. Those wrasses are definatley sand-divers. Also carpet-surfers, if your tank isn't covered completely. Had friend who's wrasse got thru eggcrate!

The blue accessor probably spooked it. They can stay in the sand for days, many days, no need for concern yet.

My yellow twin spot dove in the sand when I first got him. Was missing for a few days.
Then recently was missing for close to a month. Then out of no where, healthy as can be.
I would not dig in the sandbed. JMO

okay well i feel a little better, i was kinda worried about the accessor just bc they have the same body shape but he seems to be a very passive fish so far and he is gorgeous!! thanks for the info and will keep you posted on "radiant search 2006"

It has become a tradition for me to not see a new wrasse for atleast a few days. Don't worry about the wrasse eating. He'll find food. ;)

i bought it from coral paradise. i had jim feed it before he bagged it up just in case he did this. but hooray this morning my wife woke me up to see him swimming around so now im a happy camper.

well i have a 12" open canopy and the fixture covers a lot of the opening so unless he can make it over a 12" canopy i think i'll be fine.

12" is nothing for a wrasse, I've seen one jump higher from a small holding cube, let alone your 75. I'd put screen on top and be safe.

I've had my longfinned fairy wrasse in my 75 for over a yr totally open top w/ no problems. I dont think the wrasse will jump from a 12 inch canopy.
