Can't get my Duncan to open fully

I got this guy 5 days ago, and it tries to open up for me everyday right when the lights come on. Then it will extend its tentacles about 1/3 of the way and then close up again. And then they will continue to come out and in throughout the day but I've yet to see it open fully.

Lighting Ocean Revive T247-b
(Light is new so I started off low)
Blues - 15% -10 hours a day
Whites- 10%. -8 hours a day

Parameters
Temp- 78.4
SG - 1.025
PH- 7.9

AMM- 0
Trite-0
Trate-0

Cal-450
Alk-7.7
Mag- 1260

My thoughts:

PH is a little low, it's usually at 8.2

I'd like my Alk higher than 7.7

Maybe it needs more light? (Didn't want to crank it up too fast)

Maybe I'm just being impatient! I just want to see it open in all its glory.

This is what it looks like 80% of the time

And this is the most I have ever seen it open. ( I managed to feed it some mysis while it was opened this much.)

I should add I also got a candy cane the same day and he is super happy...

Start it low in the sand and wait for full polyp extension. Don't give it a lot of flow either. When I first got my Duncan it was the fussiest thing to any parameter change.

I agree it must be flow and/or light, not parameters. Mine has opened up in all kinds of parameters before I started paying more attention to those like ph, alk, etc. Mine is currently in a spot of low flow and low to medium light. In this spot, it has grown from two heads to at least 20 in a couple of years.

I agree, I had one in my old tank and never tested any of those parameters. And it was always open and happy and growing new heads. That was under T5's. I just can't tell if it's not getting enough light or if the LED is too much for him

For what it's worth, here's mine right in front of an mp-10 & about 2/3 up under two hydra 26 HDs

My Duncan's are finicky at best. They went almost 3 weeks without opening, but I moved them to a new location and they liked it. Now the heads are huge and happy. I'm afraid to move it anyplace else. Good luck!!!
