Can't get my xp1000sss dialed in

i have had this skimmer on my brand new tank for 3 months now and can't keep it consistant. it either overflows the cup or skims nothing. i am just adjusting by turning the valve enough to feel it move(very small increments). it is in just over 7" of water and that never changes. i try to give it at least 4-6 hours between adjustments but i am constantly messing with it. any ideas? would running an air tube from the air intake to outside of the stand help any?

Please post a pic. Bringing in outside won't make a difference.

Try raising the skimmer . They recommend a water level of 5" to 6" for that skimmer.

ill raise it an inch....i have read that 7-7.5 is optimal but maybe that isnt right. can't hurt to try it i guess. thanks

Try posting this on the Coralvue/Reef Octopus forum. They're very good at addressing issues.

I have the same skimmer and was told 5" to 5 3/4" max is optimal. If raising it doesn't help definitely post on the Coralvue forum, Lots of info on that skimmer over there. HTH

I would raise it to 5 inches and open the adjustment knob all the way. Let it run like that a day or 2 and then slowly start adjusting.
