you got one of those orange five gallon buckets from home depot? or the 160 gallon instant ocean bucket?

fill either up to the top (less an inch) and mix in three cups of salt with a measuring cup. my refractometer comes up to 1.025 with this recipe.

of if you have one of the older 200 gallon instant ocean buckets, fill it up to the top (less an inch) and put in four cups of salt. this also puts out 1.025 with the refractometer.

O I was going to do the more precise denisty measurement. That is what a hydrometer is measuring. So I was just going to keep checking my density by mass at work and when I get to 1.024 check with the hydrometer and then mark with a marker so I have a quick check.

The swing arm things are garbage. My buddy has two of them and I measured his water with my refractometer and both were off by atleast .002. One was low and one was high. Ive never tried the whole weighing thing but it may work just fine. But its not super practical unless you have the balance at home.

To calibrate your swingarm, I'd either measure it against a standard or other more accurate measuring device,

or I'd calibrate with Randy's DIY salinity calibration solution

IMO, I'd rule that out first.
