can't keep clam alive

i had 5 clams in my tank b4 but all died and i think it's cuz of pyramid snails. I tried many times, but no matter what i do, i can't seem to keep clam alive. I also tried to take them out everytime to brush off the snails, but still after doing that for few weeks, i got really tired of it...i mean there's no way that ppl do that everyday just to keep their clams alive right? anyway, i am thinking to try it again.. so ...any sugguestion ???

wouldn't the obvious be to rid the system of any predatory snails first?

sometimes you have to do what you have to do. if your not willing to do what you need to do to keep something alive then i suggest not getting it

hmm.. so you talking about brushing all clams every night forever just to keep them alive?? com'n i don't think anyone would do that.... and i did brush it every night for at least 2-3 weeks...

save yourself all the hassle of dealing with the problem and just get you a plastic clam, then you can enjoy it with minimal effort exerted by yourself and best of all, it won't die like your others did.

pyrams have a life cycle of between 80 and 120 days. you dont need to brush them every day but 3 times a week for 2 months. after that do it once a week for another 2 months, then just check them periodically

i had them too and with a daily rigor, i was able to get rid of them in less than a month.

so do those snails only jumps on clam or something else as well? cuz i don't have any clam in my tank for about a month already, does that mean there's no more pyramid snail in my tank?

if im correct you can get a yellow coris wrasse also and they will help to keep the pyramid snails in check. But everyone is correct, if i had that problem i would not let my clams die because i thought it was a hassle. I love my 6 clams too much and would be brushing them every night if i had too.
just my opinion though.
