My reefer buddy has had clam problems since he started keeping them, about 5 months ago. He has had Crocea's,maximas and a Deresa. Soon after putting them in his tank they don't open fully and within weeks or a month look retracted and unhealthy. 3 out of six have died. His tank is a mixed reef 150 tall, his SPS,LPS and softies look good and are growing. His lighting is 2~ 150HQI 20k's and a XM 250 SE 10k in the center. His params are, S.G 1.026, PH 8.1-8.2, Ca 460ppm, Alk 7.7-8.4 DKH, Temp 79F, nitrates and phos 0ppm. I can't understand why everything else looks good except for the clams, there is one thing that I noticed, on one of his bigger snails there was a few tiny white long pointed snails, I'm not certain but I thought it could be pyramid snails attacking his astrea which might explain the clam problem.
