So I read the instructions for two little fishes phosphate reactor and it says it requires a minimum of 250ml of product to run. This is way more then rowaphos recommends for 25 gallons which is roughly 12.5ml of media. So then what would you use to run this stuff?

Thanks.

could you mix carbon and phosphate remover in the canister? i do this in my media reactor in my 75 and it seems to work well.

but carbon does not last nearly as long at the phosphate remover does it. Which means I will have to prematurely remove the phosphate remover in an effort to remove the spent carbon.

Thanks.

Just curious but would something like Purigen work in the Phosphate reactor? It does last far longer than carbon although I don't know if it is too small. Let me know either way, I've got a 120gal and was thinking about doing this but didn't want to spend the money just to find out that it wouldn't work.

Well I think they are about the same size. I think they would both get through the stock sponges, but apparantly I need an o-ring for the reactor so I cant even tell you if they would get blasted through as my reactor is broken because of this.

Thanks for the info! Try the purigen, mine lasts about 3 months before a "recharge" (24hr bleach then 24 hour RO soak, I reuse after it sets out for another 24) I keep 3 sets in rotation. Is 2-3 months long enough to keep up with the phosphate remover?

Why don't you make your own miniture phosban reactor out of a bottle? I saw a thread for it either here or on NR where someone made one out of a 1 liter gatoraid bottle.

Yeah well the po4 remover is supposed to last 2-3 months so yeah I would say it will keep up, however I have heard of people removing theres earlier. I guess it really depends on your phosphate problem. Only you can determine when to change. Just test regularly and you should be fine.
